Description
Anxiety disorders are the most common type of mental health disorder in youth, with prevalence rates estimated between 5-10% of young people. There will be a discussion highlighting the physiological, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral manifestations of anxiety from a brain-based educational perspective. The webinar will also discuss how school-based social anxiety impacts school behavior and academic performance.
The session will also introduce the new Student Anxiety Rating Scales (STARS). The STARS is a standardized, norm-referenced multi-informant rating scale (parent, teacher, and self-report forms) that can be used to quantify the level of school-based social anxiety a student is experiencing. The STARS is designed to assess how student anxiety impacts learning and social-emotional behavior in a K-12 school-based environment.
