This webinar will explore the neural underpinnings of trauma, aggression, and violent school behavior in children and adolescents. There will be a discussion on how specific types of traumatic events such as childhood abuse, poverty, witnessing violence, and even pandemics can alter brain circuitry in crucial frontal lobe regions impacting both cognitive and social skills development. Participants will learn five steps that schools can take to become more “trauma-informed” and improve school climate. Also, targeted assessment strategies, specific classroom accommodations, and detailed school-based interventions will be presented for at-risk students.
