The presenters will briefly review national youth mental health trends and how shifting referral patterns have expanded the school psychologist’s role beyond eligibility determination to early identification, intervention planning, and coordination with families and community providers. The core of the session addresses assessment best practices, including structured interviews, behavioral observation, record review, and standardized rating scales.

The session will also introduce MIASA, a new multi-informant rating scale designed to improve adolescent mental health assessment.
